Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) is a professional organization for technical services librarians in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, which meets annually in the fall of the year. PTPL is a regional affiliate of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), and a member of the ALCTS Affiliate Relations Committee (ARC). PTPL has served technical services librarians since 1923, and continues to support their ongoing professional development and continuing education.
Membership is open to anyone interested in the goals of the organization, for a nominal fee. Visit the Membership page for details.
At our 2020 our annual meeting, there was an incident where racially charged language was used during one of the breakout sessions. This language is unacceptable. The PTPL Executive Board has addressed this situation and has taken action.
This incident was not representative of PTPL as an organization. PTPL supports diversity and inclusion and condemns racism in all its forms.
The PTPL Executive Board acknowledges that a code of conduct should have been implemented to ensure safety and inclusivity. From now on, a code of conduct will be required and enforced for all participants during all PTPL-sponsored events.
