The PTPL gavel was made by Dorman S. Camden, the husband of past chair Beth Picknally, in 2002. The gavel is hand-carved boxwood.

Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) is a professional organization for technical services librarians in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, which meets annually in the fall of the year. PTPL has served technical services librarians since 1923, and continues to support their ongoing professional development and continuing education.

Membership is open to anyone interested in the goals of the organization, for a nominal fee. Visit the Membership page for details.
